Our History Dartmouth Travel Bureau was founded in 1934 by Joseph A. D'Esopo. It was the first travel agency north of Boston and remained the only travel agency in Hanover until 1973. Joe and Bea D'Esopo established a highly respected agency intent on servicing a large area with professionalism, knowledge, and integrity. The company was incorporated in 1966 in the State of New Hampshire as Dartmouth Travel Bureau, Inc. Operations were expanded when offices were opened in New London in 1973 and Middlebury, VT in 1981. Dartmouth Travel installed the TWA PARS system in 1978, the first CRS system to be installed in the North Country. Our DatasLink accounting system was installed in 1985 as an on-line system and has provided the best accounting and reporting system for our agency size. Telephone systems have been upgraded through the years and we now have AT&T Merlin systems installed in Hanover and Middlebury. All offices have fax transmitting systems, 800 access telephone numbers, e-mail, and now this web site. Dartmouth Travel has been a member of ASTA, the American Society of Travel Agents, since the very early years. There are now over ten thousand domestic travel agencies that are members of ASTA with more than fifteen thousand member locations. The D'Esopos were very early supporters of ASTA, and Jerry Mitchell recently completed six years of service as the president and area director for New England ASTA. Dartmouth Travel has appointments
from ARC, AMTRAK,
Greyhound,
Vermont Transit, and. It is a member of IATAN.
